Fraternal Greetings Brethren,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer and an opportunity to rest and refresh yourself. Our Masonic year begins again with the September 10th Meeting and we have much to which to look forward! Last year, the overall mission of Saint Albans was to focus on the basics and to provide more opportunities to socialize within the Fraternity; to reinforce the foundation built by those who have gone before us if you will.  We succeeded in our goals and as a result, Saint Albans was recognized by our DDGM as one of the top Lodges in the 7th District for Ritual Work. We also enjoyed at least nine “field trips” throughout the year for the Brethren to gather and have a great time.

This year we’ll continue to enjoy the benefits of our hard work as we have a lot of candidates to initiate into the Lodge.  Most importantly we’ll be raising Brother Greg Woods to the Sublime Degree in September and then jumping right back into it with potentially three First Degree candidates in October, with five candidates for Second Degree in November. That’s a healthy sign indeed.

Also, I think you’ll be very impressed with the Saint Albans Building upon your return in September. As we’ve been enjoying the last lazy days of summer, the Trustees have been hard at work improving the building. The Lodge is undergoing some of the biggest improvements it’s seen in many years. Some of the new things you’ll see are: New Roof, Updated Bathroom Facilities, Revised Storage Closets, New Wash Sink in the kitchen, new Chairs in the upstairs Meeting Room and a New Carpet as well. We have seen a tremendous investment into the building over the last two years by the Trustees with the help of a lot of Brothers; we’re lucky to have such a dedicated group watching over the building.

The other major event-taking place in our building is the addition of a great new tenant. Thanks to the hard work off Worshipful Peter Hall, the Mt. Zion Royal Arch Chapter will be joining us in Foxborough. This is exciting news for Saint Albans because not only does it financially help support the building itself, it also brings in a group of Brothers actively interested in sharing Fraternal events with SAL. Mt. Zion provides an opportunity for the Brothers of Saint Alban to expand their horizons in Masonry and to network in the greater Masonic Body of Massachusetts.

It’s an exciting time to be a Member of Saint Albans. Thanks to the dedication of so many, our Lodge is experiencing a renaissance of activity and livelihood. Let’s keep up the hard work, let’s keep our ritual work sharp and let’s continue to bring in worthy fellows. And for goodness sakes, if you are a Brother who hasn’t stopped by recently, now is the time.

Worshipful Tom
